Environmental, Social and Governance

As part of Redstor’s defined ESG strategy, we’re committed to playing our part in the global climate agenda, diversity and inclusion and talent management and retention.

Carbon footprint

In 2022, Redstor made a commitment with the Science Based Target Institute to reduce emissions in line with the target of limiting global temperature rises to 1.5oC, which, according to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, will avoid the catastrophic impacts of climate change.

Over the past few years, Redstor has taken major steps towards achieving this target well ahead of schedule, sourcing renewable energy for offices globally and reducing Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 94% against the target of 42%. Although outside the scope of the SBTi target, Redstor continues to make efforts to reduce Scope 3 emissions by working with vendors who, like Redstor, have ambitious carbon reduction targets.

Microsoft Partner Pledge

Redstor is aligned with Microsoft’s Partner Pledge, committing to environmental, social, and governance (ESG) responsibility. As a Microsoft Partner, we will continue delivering innovative solutions that enable our clients to achieve their business goals while minimising their environmental impact.

Diversity and inclusion

We are proud to be a SaaS tech company operating in the diverse regions of the UK, Portugal, South Africa, and the USA. Our success has been built upon our commitment to embracing diversity, fostering inclusion, and cultivating a sense of belonging among our employees and partners. We truly believe that diverse perspectives, backgrounds, and experiences fuel innovation, drive creativity, and enable us to better understand and serve our global customer base.

Our values of being authentically human, moving fast & executing with focus and challenging ourselves, resonates through our environment. This creates our culture of respect, authenticity, and acceptance. We recognise that true progress is achieved when each person feels valued, heard, and empowered to contribute their unique talents and insights.

Our employee networks, such as the GREEN tribe and Women In Network tribe, enable our employees to foster inclusion, drive awareness and encourage cross collaboration across our company.

Social impact and stakeholder engagement

In 2021, Redstor, under the banner of Redstor Academy, established a Digital Skills Programme with the objective of exposing and upskilling learners (age 13 – 17) from underprivileged communities with technologically-centric skills.

From January 2022, Redstor partnered with Edunova, a trusted charity that specialises in EduTech to deliver a programme that has impacted 200 learners directly, 1365 indirectly and 40 teachers.

Data security and customer privacy

The data protection provided by Redstor’s solution enables customers to complete tens of thousands of restores and recover millions of lost files using the service, including recovering from potentially catastrophic data loss events such as ransomware attacks.

In its own operations, Redstor manages cybersecurity risks in line with industry best-practice. It takes a preventative approach to mitigate cyber risk through regular risk assessments, vulnerability scanning and has clear policies which employees are trained to follow in the event of any breaches.

Business integrity

In South Africa, Redstor complies with BBBEE legislation. As part of the ‘procurement’ measure of this regulation, the compliance of Redstor’s suppliers to this regulation is measured. Therefore, Redstor works to ensure strong compliance to this legislation in its operations and supply chain.

Redstor’s corporate responsibility policy covers anti-money laundering, business ethics and transparency, environmental protection, employee relations, anti-bribery, facilitation of tax evasion and fraud.

Risk management

The effectiveness of Redstor’s solutions in helping customers recover data in the event of cyber attacks means that Redstor itself is potentially at greater risk of being the target of such attacks.

To mitigate this risk and others, Redstor performs regular risk and security assessments and maintains a risk register, the scope of which includes regulatory and operational or systemic risks.

Board oversight

Redstor has established ESG oversight at the board level, demonstrating its commitment to the strategies and issues discussed above.
